What We Do

Our Program

Consistent gatherings, a guiding yearly theme, and real-world experiences that bring learning to life — for 3rd through 8th grade homeschool families.

A Community, Not a Classroom

Seasons Schoolhouse is a bi-weekly enrichment program — not a core academic program. We do not teach formal math or language arts. Instead we focus on nature study, science, social studies, history, and community-based learning through a hands-on, STEAM-informed approach.

Parents remain on-site and involved throughout every gathering. This is not a drop-off program. It is a shared learning environment where families grow alongside one another, and where children are known, not just present.

We gather bi-weekly from August through May, beginning with a Kick-off and ending with an End of Year Celebration.

One Theme. All Year.

Each year, Seasons Schoolhouse chooses a central theme that shapes everything we do. Field trips, discussions, hands-on activities, and projects all connect back to this theme — allowing children to build understanding over time rather than in isolated lessons. This is what we mean by rhythm over rush.

How a Gathering Works

Every gathering follows a steady, intentional rhythm — purposefully planned, not busy for the sake of busyness.

Structured Teaching

We begin with an intentional introduction to the day’s topic — connecting it to our yearly theme and building context before we dive in.

Hands-On Activity

Students engage with what they’ve learned in a tangible way — building, creating, experimenting, and exploring together.

Free Play & Social Time

Children explore, play, and connect — often outdoors. This time is not an afterthought. It is part of the program.

Field Trips

On field trip days, we take our learning into the community. These experiences are intentionally chosen to align with our yearly theme and give students a chance to see concepts in real life — not just read about them.

For example, a study of Indigenous Floridians may be paired with a visit to the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve — bringing history and ecology together in a meaningful, memorable way.

Areas of Exploration

Nature Study

Seasonal observation, plant and wildlife identification, nature journaling, and stewardship of our local environment.

STEAM

Hands-on exploration, experimentation, and discovery — learning through doing, building, and asking questions.

History & Social Studies

Living history lessons, cultural studies, and meaningful connections to the people and stories that shaped our world.

Art & Creative Expression

We tie creative expression into every season through crafts, nature-inspired art, and hands-on projects made with care.

Field Trips

Theme-connected adventures across our community and beyond — bringing learning off the page and into the world.

Community Exploration

Learning to look outward — understanding our community, serving others, and discovering our place in the world around us.
